STEP 7 – DIGESTIVE BLEND RECIPES AND FAQ

FAQ – “Dr. Roark, what do I do about a colicky horse?”

ANSWER FROM DR. ROARK – Giving two to five drops of DIGESTIVE BLEND twice daily with feed is a helpful preventative, as well as half a cup Aloe Vera Juice twice daily. During an active bout of Colic, please contact your veterinarian to determine if surgery is indicated, and while you’re waiting for her (or him), you can apply 20 drops DIGESTIVE BLEND along the ventral abdomen, and 20 drops DIGESTIVE BLEND in the lower lip (or you can mix with oil and give via dosing syringe, but usually in the lower lip is sufficient and easy.)

FAQ – “Do you have any suggestions for dealing with hairballs in cats?”

ANSWER FROM DR. ROARK – Hairballs form because:

• Cats ingest their hair from grooming.

• There is not enough natural mucous being secreted in their guts.

• They are not drinking enough water or getting enough healthy oils or fiber in their diet.

There are a couple of things you can do when your cat gets a hairball—and also to prevent them in the first place.

Add 1 tbsp. carrier oil to 2 drops of the DIGESTIVE BLEND and use one to two drops of this diluted mixture applied on your cat’s belly two to four times a day. This is especially helpful when they have a hairball they are having difficulty with.

You can introduce additional fiber, like pumpkin, into their diet as well. One teaspoon to one tablespoon once a week is plenty. Alternatively, you can sprinkle a little ground flaxseed on their food.

You can give a natural laxative like Raw, Unrefined Coconut Oil (1 tsp. for cats 10 lbs. and over, and 1/2 tsp. for cats that weigh less) as needed until the hairball is passed.

Be sure your cat is getting enough water in their diet by offering clean, fresh water daily. Some cats prefer to drink out of running water and there are many pet fountains on the market today. Additionally, feeding a wet food rather than a kibble is an excellent natural way to ensure your cat is staying adequately hydrated.

FAQ – “My son adopted a rescue dog from the humane society. She is a small German Shepherd and is four years old with no past health history available. They feed her kibble and adult canned food. Approximately every eight weeks, she gets a bout of diarrhea and they immediately switch her to a gastric support food. If she still has the runs after three days, they take her to the vet. She is a great dog but rather anxious. He tries to keep a routine going with her and that seems to have really helped. Appreciate any suggestions on what to do?”

ANSWER FROM Dr. ROARK – If there is nothing else going on from a disease standpoint that would otherwise be causing the diarrhea (which diagnostics done at their veterinarian should be able to determine), you can use DIGESTIVE BLEND on the belly diluted with Fractionated Coconut Oil every two to four hours until resolved, and give a spoonful of pumpkin (canned pumpkin is great, but be sure it’s 100% pure pumpkin, NOT pumpkin pie filling) with each meal until solidified.

Diffusing Calming Oils like Lavender Essential Oil, Restful Blend, or Reassuring Blend may help as well. Applying Grounding Blend topically once daily may also help with stress levels. Giving probiotics daily will help (even when she’s not having diarrhea) as well as digestive enzymes.

PET OWNER TESTIMONIAL

Meet “T,” a miniature Australian Shepherd. He hadn't been feeling well for a day or two, not wanting to eat and moping around the home. His owner put a drop of DIGESTIVE BLEND on his front paw and a drop between his shoulder blades, as well as letting him smell the bottle. Within 15 minutes, he was acting like his old self. After about an hour or so he ate, and then began acting totally normal again!
